Old Vine Petite Sirah is one of the few wines we’ve made in every vintage since 2008, and it is a perennial favorite among our customers and club members. The grapes are harvested from 50+ year-old vines from Shell Creek Vineyards near Paso Robles, California. Shell Creek is a family operation renowned in the wine world for its Petite Sirah.

At this special tasting event held in our barrel room, taste and compare TEN vintages of Old Vine Petite Sirah, 2009 through 2019, with Winemakers Greg Stokes and Dr. Bob Young.

Be the winemaker for a day at the 1840 Blending Party!

Step into the role of winemaker for the day at our annual 1840 Blending Party, an exclusive experience for 1840 Club members.

Each table of eight will be equipped with blending tools and four distinct wines to craft a signature blend. Collaborate, experiment, and refine your creation as your team competes to produce the most compelling wine blend of the day.

Entries will be evaluated by Executive Winemaker Dr. Bob Young and General Manager Jennifer Cernosek. The two top-scoring teams will earn an invitation to an intimate, chef-paired wine dinner at Bending Branch—an experience reserved for our most inspired blenders.

Our annual 1840 Blending Party is by invitation-only to members of the Bending Branch Winery 1840 Club. Tickets are not transferable.

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines provides vocational training in the broad range of alcoholic beverages to underpin job skills and competencies in the customer service and sales functions of the hospitality, retail, and wholesale industries. Wine enthusiasts in Central Texas who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge of wine and want to obtain an internationally recognized wine qualification should consider this course!
