The balance of a late-harvest wine is critical. Lingering in the autumn sun and chilly nights produces concentrated sugar levels and intensely flavored grapes. But the fruit must also retain acidity, or the wine can be cloying and without backbone. Brenda’s Cuvée is pale and delicate, and the typical raspberry jam flavors of Petite Sirah are edged with raisiny caramel. The finish is smooth and clean.
Food Pairing Notes
Late harvest wines are a chameleon in the food world. For a savory combo, partner Brenda’s Cuvée with a strong salty/sour cheese such as aged goat cheese and some butter-toasted Texas pecans. The classic dessert match is biscotti, the crunchy spiced cookies made by bakeries and grandmothers across Italy.
A portion of the proceeds from Brenda’s Cuvée will support the work of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
